The truth is I've been over whelmed. I hardly know where to start, it seems that as 2011 was winding down the "gods" or the "spirits" went around wantonly administering stupid steroids to humankind. Between the sneaky assassination of the Sandbox tree, and the "eager 11", and the fracas at Alexandra secondary, and the recent gun busts, and the wind up to the US presidential elections... I find myself hoping that when my primary school friends teased me about being from outer space (all those years ago) they were right.
One of the things that did strike me however was that politicians the world over seem concerned with their political power and little else... so I offer you this little poem as a summation of my view of politics in today's world.
A PROBLEM WITH POETICS (AKA Love and politicks)
As a "poet" I find myself (today) troubled by a problem with poetics.
The dilemma: to link the universal concept of love with the public spectacle of politics and the private relief of the toilet.
The difficulty: how can I make trivial something as serious as love, make serious something trivial as politics and make public the privacy of a bowel movement.”
this is what i came up with...(The solution!)
LOVE And Politicks (a poem)
“Ahhhh, see the politician,
who in order to hold on to the power
that he loves,
looks out over the masses ….
And talks.......
SHIT!”
