Nala (The $2 Philosopher)
Nala (The $2 Philosopher) Something weird happened to me today, (which in itself is quite normal as weird things happen to me everyday) I saw a photograph of a young woman. I know, there's nothing particularly weird about that either, (and have no fear this is not a creepy story about ex girlfriends, or masturbation, or stalkers) what is weird is that I thought it was a photo of a girl I knew and I looked at it and thought "What the fuck happened to her face??!". You see I thought it was a photo of a young woman I find to be strikingly beautiful, and here she was ...strikingly ugly. Then I suddenly realised it was not a photo of the woman that I knew but of some other woman (That I don't know), then I realised that the woman (that I didn't know) was strikingly beautiful also... the entire process took 15 seconds. Two women, who shared some resemblance, but each stunning in her own way.
The long and short of it is this: I only saw the beauty of the woman I did not know when my mind stopped trying to force her to be the woman I knew. It made wonder if this is what they (whoever "they" are) meant by "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!" It made me think that sometimes we fail to see the beauty in things, not because it is not there but because we are busy trying to make the thing we see into the thing we want to see... then I thought "fuck it!" and went and had a beer! Nala (The $2 Philosopher) I believe (ha) that true belief means pressing on as if you believe.. especially in the moments when you really don't.
