Country Bus Chronicles! (A typical ride home.)

The bus is packed with people going home from a hard days work. everybody is sweaty and tired.

An old woman gets on to the bus, she is obviously strong... but she is old, old and bent; standing clearly requires some effort on her part. She gets on the bus looks around and hold onto the railing.

NOBODY moves... NOOOO BODY!!!

Eventually someone gets off the bus and the old woman (mainly because she happened to be standing in the right place) is able to beat the mad rush for the now vacant seat. She sits down.

Two stops later the most pregnant woman I have ever seen in my life gets on the bus (She was PREGNANT she looked like if the bus hit a pothole she would burst and drown us in a sea of babies. PPRREEGGNNAANNTT!!!!)

NOBODY moves... NOOOO BODY... that is until the old lady (The bent one who only just got a seat) gets up and gives the pregnant woman her seat!

Standing in the back of the bus I found myself arbitrarily (apropos of nothing?) wondering why I find it so hard to take some people seriously when they complain about the selfishness of the society or the greed of our politicians!

I've realised it's up to each and every one of us to play our part. And so in a situation like this, I will say very loudly that somebody should get the hell up. I do try to temper how I really feel and the words that come out might be a little nicer...but it will be a plea for somebody to show some consideration...and as I become older and bolder, I might even start targeting people - you there! you able bodied young man in the green and black striped shirt. yes you! please let the old lady have a seat....yuh gotta treat some people like children and it still takes a village.....

In ancient times the older women were dispensible, I can feel her strength through this story and I can say no one ain't taking her out to pasture. As for the self contained seated let then live in their selfishness. The real strength was acknowledged
