This "feel good-ism" is breeding a subculture of people who spend their time running around trying to avoid negative feelings at all costs while achieving nothing (not even the avoidance of negative feelings). Which I guess is kool if that is your thing. My problem is these spongehearted jellyfish people run around trying to dismiss the reality of suffering by spouting foolish platitudes like "Suffering is a State of mind!" and it is (a state of mind), but that is not really the point. Suffering is a state of mind, So does this mean that the people who live in famine stricken or war stricken parts of the world need merely adjust their unfortunate attitudes?
I have often been told, both by friends and mental health professionals, that I need to adjust MY attitude and be less harsh... more charitable. So it is in this vein (Charitableness)that I offer this thought... the "Feel good gurus" are not agents of (Name your Iconic Demon here) but are merely severely retarded and incapable of having more than one emotional response at a time. For the rest of us (multicellular organisms) the mind is a paradoxical place that can have diametrically opposite feelings about the same things at the same time> I'm sure many of the worlds sufferers experience great joy in living (this may even be why some of them persevere) but they are still suffering... everybody suffers (So what?).
Look the point is if you are alive (and if you can read this you might be)... you're going to suffer... so you might as well enjoy it!
