When I was a student I had a philosophy lecturer who always used this trick; he would write a sentence on the board and declare it was an "essential idea" ... then he would go off on his tirade and leave us to figure out how the "Essential idea" was connected to the body of his presentation. I actually don't know if he always did this but certainly he did it at the one class I attended!
I liked the idea! So now I return to my tirade on "feel good gurus" and share this little thought with you!
Suffering is a state of mind, Anger is a state of mind. A state of mind is often a choice. A good choice will change if circumstances demand!
Joy is a reaction, action causes reaction, thought is an action, state of mind influences thought.
Anger is a reaction. Joy is a reaction. A reaction is an action. Joy is anger!
Love is a commitment, a commitment is a choice, hate is a choice. A choice is a state of mind. Love is a choice. Love is hate.
A good choice will change if circumstances demand!
Hating a situation causes discomfort. Suffering is discomfort, discomfort is dissatisfaction. Dissatisfaction is inextricably linked to aspiration, aspiration is inextricably linked to frustration, frustration is inextricably linked to failure, failure is inextricably linked to success. Success is a state of mind! Suffering is a state of mind! Success is suffering.
